To all people believing that United environments will some day be ported to ManiaPlanet: forget about it. United is past, it's something that has its best time and slowly dies. The environments would require extremely much work to upgrade all models of the blocks to high quality, add more decals, recreate all textures in 4x bigger resolution. Moreover, ManiaPlanet engine doesn't allow United vehicles to be ported, due less vehicle gameplay parameters (see difference between Stadium and Nations?).
Also, the TrackMania 2 won't stop on Lagoon only. Sure, it might be suicidal move to develop more environments, but time and MP4 will come and do what it's supposed to do. So far, there are next environments planned.
Quick edit: Florenzius' "environments" are not environments.

Well, it's nadeos own fault to 'leave' a 'awesome running game' with TrackMania Forever instead for keep it up with updates or move it directly (2011) to the Maniaplanet. But whatever. We should find a way to make "ManiaPlanet" more interesting for newbys and longtime players^^

I think new environments will be the same as present ones. The only difference will be changed some variables in code, but physics remain the same. So - maybe car turns a little faster or slower but we never back to instant turns like in United, where gamepads gives advantage and makes gameplay more dynamic. Also - I suspect, like in presnt envs, that cars still be light as balloons but with surprisingly huge grip - they can fly for kilometers or flips on some turns (not flat ones), but never slides until you force them to do it. Magic? :) Try to do it on Island for example - turn fast left or right on flat surface, and you'll see what happens (and it's what you should expect).
Heavier cars (this should not be a flight simulator!), more sense in physics (slide when turns too fast in high speed), wide roads and platforms and high dynamic - something like combination of island and bay - and lot of players will be very, very happy.

I was hoping Valley will have a lot heaver car (like 3x more than actual) and "normal" handling on dirt, making it perfect rally variation of TrackMania, but I got disappointed. How good we will be able to use custom cars in MP4 to make real rally race happen.
