Idea: Trackmania Transformed

For me Trackmania is all about variety and I'm thinking about ways of achieving that in TM2. Of course there are the old wishes like including all the original environments in the game, or re-introducing official platform and puzzle modes.

However, with recent news about "The Crew 2" I had another idea that could put a whole new twist into the game: introducing checkpoints that transform your vehicle from a car to a speedboat or a plane? Much like "All-Stars Racing Transformed" and now "The Crew 2"

"Trackmania Transformed" would also make for a nice alliteration in the title

What do you guys think about that idea?

It wouldn't ruin it - it would expand it. If you don't like it you just don't use it.

And of course it's not called "stealing", it's called "inspiration" Every element of TM has been used in other games before so that's not really an argument.

That would be great, but I can't imagine it. I'm joining riolu! I think that would remove the spirit of trackmania and it will be too hard to set up anyway. Unfortunately, there is no chance that Nadeo will work on this project .

Great suggestions, Dommy! I guess changing "only" the car type in mid-race would be easier to implement than to add planes or boats.

And what is the "essence" or "spirit" of TM? That depends on who you ask. For me a big part of it is to be as creative as possible in this sandbox.

In addition I always love the overview of maps you get in the Track Editor but then during the race you have that tunnel vision while you race along the track - soaring over the landscape or through canyons would be a great way to experience maps in a new way.

No, because Pursuit is still based on what TrackMania is all about - cars. If we'd add planes or boats we could just rename the game to VehicleMania

Well, Mario Kart is still called "Kart" but contains bikes and gliders. Independent of the name I think the essence in these games is racing - finding the fastest route from start to finish and being able to handle the vehicle the best you can.

However, I don't want to split the community into two opposing groups. Perhaps I should've called the topic "Trackmania Transformed - Title Pack". I don't want Nadeo to change the base game so that every race has to be completed in different vehicles. But as I said, for me it would be a great addition (e.g. in the form of a Title Pack) to experience the maps in different ways.

I would not add planes / boats, but have a game mode that changes your car on checkpoints.
